The most important first steps of buying a home are:
Meet with your Realtor
Getting a Pre Approval
Talking to a mortgage specialist or loan offer is an important 1st step in the home buying process. You need to know if you can get approved for a mortgage, and for how much! This will allow you to look at houses in your price range, give you an idea of the mortgage amount you will be paying , and allow you to make offers on a property. Most Realtors wont accept a written offers without a pre approval letter so its better to be prepared sooner than later. At least you know where you stand financially. If for some reason you arent qualified just yet, most mortgage specialists will give you advice on how to get there!
How much can I afford?
Banks and lenders use specific criteria to determine how much of a mortgage they’re willing to offer you. They look at your income, expenses, credit history and employment status, as well as the down payment you plan to make on a home. It may seem like a scary process, but it is actually straightforward. You can usually get a Mortgage Pre-Approval in a day.
By knowing what you can afford, you can confidently shop within that price range
